an emotional or other connection between people
General relationship counseling refers to helping the parties involved in a relationship outside of an intimate or marital relationship, where marriage counseling would be more appropriate. Relationship counseling could be helpful for members of a family (directly related; in-laws; step-relatives), friendships, workplace relationships (employee and other employee(s); employee/employer; professional and client), etc.
Relationship counseling helps clients identify and manage or reconcile specific problem areas and continuing patterns of conflict. Sometimes during this counseling process the therapist may recognize the need to address other issues for the parties involved and will make appropriate recommendations. Sometimes problem areas can be resolved, and no further therapeutic involvement is indicated. The experienced therapists at New Leaf Center identify problem areas and offer specific guidance to address short-term or long-term needs for our clients.
